and they will say it's because the tourists aren't here. it was built for the tourists and the tourists aren't here. that's why it feels empty.
but that's not true because i was saying about how empty it really was a few years back, now.
it was particularly striking doing first year health science and they pack things intentionally so there's a stampede and a crush outside the lecture theatres. e.g., to get in to 10am cell biology class there would be a pack of studnets... around 1,000 of them outside the lecture theatre in the 30 minutes or so prior to lecture.
and the traffic... the morning traffic as everybody tries to arrive in the city at exactly the same time. 9am. or 8.30am to beat the traffic. or 8am to beat the traffic. and everybody leaves at the same time. 3pm to pick up the kids from school. or 5 pm when they get off work. or 5.30pm to avoid the traffic or 6pm to avoid the traffic.
but when i was out of that... walking down the streets at 9:30am and *there is nobody here*. The roads are empty. The motorways are nearly empty. There are no people in sight. The people are artificially kept huddling outside the lecture theatre in a cramped space. Or huddled 60 to a floor inside an open plan office.
With every other floor (at least): EMPTY.
There's nobody here.
The government kept records on arrivals...
But not departures. They didn't keep records on how many people FLED NZ.
And the tourist reviews got worse and worse and worse and people stopped coming here. So we intentionally marketed / advertised to... It became about 'how low can you go'.
And about getting refugees and migrant workers to do the work that locals wouldn't do. Trick or con them into it while their language skills werent' good enough for them to hear what the people with power really thought of them / their occuption. Etc.

I don't know what you call it when you buy a company and then you liquidate things to get the money out.
Sell off all the assets. Gut the buildings. A library with a few big group study desks and cheap tables. They can bring their own devices even, right? And look at books online, right?
Then get rid of payroll. List people who are 'honorary' or 'visiting' or otherwise not on payroll. Then pages and pages of administrators etc etc.
Just gutted everything.
Then they take their money and go off overseas.
That's what our leaders do.

I don't feel that is fact about the fetus being a shall be say foreign object in a female's uterus. It's a combination of the Father's DNA and the Mother's DNA but might be more of one or the other. Many females have autoimmune illnesses before pregnancy so that kind of autoimmune illness came before the pregnancy. A good example of just one of them would be Lupus, or thyroid disease. Females are more closely monitored during their pregnancies if do have an autoimmune illness. I believe that the hormones of the females are a huge contributor to autoimmune illness since females are much more likely to have one than a male. Back to covid and blood clots you piqued my interest in what is in those blood clots that form during the illness. I do know that yesterday on our TV news they showed pictures of recipients of the mRNA's upper arms. They have some do large itchy painful rashes now give the name "Covid Arm" Doctors have biopsied them and found nothing abnormal. Rash disappears in a few days but then mysteriously reappears about 8 days past then. A friend of mine on Facebook posted the picture of her arm. She just had dose #2 of Moderna which seems to be the one that causes the rash. I need to google Covid arm to see what is said. Seems that Pfizer is the best mRNA vaccine so far. Phillipa

Does anybody know wether lets say an Astra-Zeneca vaccine precludes me from getting a different vaccine later on?

What time frame are you speaking of? Isn't the EU giving just one dose of Astra Zeneca to Europeans? No mixing of different vaccines here in the US. If first dose is Pfizer here so is 2nd dose, Same with Moderna. If get the Johnson & Johnson as I did it's one shot only. If boosters come out I don't know how that will work? Phillipa

Im talking about two doses of Astra-Zeneca and then a different vaccine after a few months. Like a full inoculation with AZ and then after weeks or months a full inoculation with something else.

Why would you want to do that. I surely doubt that you can double vaccinate against Covid. But at the moment that hasn't even been suggested? Phillipa

The existing vaccines don't protect so well against the brazilian and south african variant and there may be more new variants in the future.

> Anyone received one of the available Covid vaccines. Please share experience both good and bad. And which vaccine did you receive? Or did you decide not to get one and if so why? And finally who has had Covid? Thanks Phillipa
Got the 1st dose of pfizer vaccine. Arm was a little sore the next day, that's all.
My vax site was incredibly efficient. In and out in 30 minutes and they probably did 1000 people while I was there.

> I don't feel that is fact about the fetus being a shall be say foreign object in a female's uterus. It's a combination of the Father's DNA and the Mother's DNA but might be more of one or the other.
Oh. I think it is a fact insofar as the foetus is some percentage of fathers DNA and not mothers DNA. If you were to take something from the father and implant it in the mother (a kidney, a heart, a lung, a face, an arm) then you would need to give the mother immunosuppressant medication to prevent her body from attacking the implant as foreign. There is a barrier between the mother and the foetus, usually, to prevent her rejecting it on the grounds that it is some percentage of immunologically alien...
But when she gives birth she becomes exposed to the foetus. Yeah, I'm remembering... (From books not IRL experience lolz)...
There are many different kinds of auto-immune disorders (also many different kinds of immune responses -- I think 5 from memory)... Mmm... Sometimes they are linked. Same mechanism. Other ones aren't linked.
Some women do have autoimmune disorders and they are okay with vaccinations. It depends... ANd we are still learning a lot about all this stuff...
I am not sure about hormones and autoimmune. I have been reading a lot about lifetime estrogen exposure and various cancers... But not hormones and autoimmune diseases in females... It might be to do with hormones -- but I had not heard that. I don't know why I got it into my head that it was something to do with child bearing / birthing, particularly. I might be going beyond (reaching) I might be wrong. I have a notion... Is all... I don't know where I formed that idea... Need to learn more...
> Back to covid and blood clots you piqued my interest in what is in those blood clots that form during the illness.
Yes. There are different kinds of antibody. IgG... IgM... IgM is for clumping? I think. Clumpy clumps of whatever it grabby grabs... I don't know how the body knows to make IgG and not IgM...
I read something today trying to explain about clumps. It didn't make sense. It prompted me. I don't make sense lolz. I'm thinking about it... How it could be inducing clumping...
Misfolded proteins... If the body starts cranking out antibodies... Maybe producing light chain and heavy chain the wrong radios then they tend to form clumps / misfold. A kind of prion disorder.
The clumps can lodge in the kidneys and the lungs. That was the first problem with Covid? What the people were actually dying of... Clots in the lungs and they found in the kidneys too... Clumps of what?? Antibody? I wondered... Misfolded antibody??
(NOt about the attaching to platelets and then resulting in platelet insufficiency -- that would result in bleeding out... NOt clumping... But yeah so much to remember... The freaking names of all the things. ALL THE THINGS. lolz).
I did not know about rashes... Hmm. I don't know about that.
It is hard to say, Phillipa. Because you do get random events. And we are talking lots of doses of all the different vaccines that have been given, now. It's like how you do hear about people being struck by lightening or whatever occasionally... But these serious side effects (all non lethal so far??) Are very very rare when you consider how many people have been vaccinated thus far.
And things could start looking different with respect to 'which is best' down the track. We just don't know...
They have all gone through an approvals process etc. They are all likely to be okay.

I have to say that the first BionTech/Pfizer shot yesterday hit me pretty hard. I didn't get a placebo, that is for sure. It is not pleasant, but I guess it will pass.

No placebos being used now trials are over. People are the animal studies. You got the real shot. And what is your age as the younger you are the stronger the side effects?

Soreness where the shot was administered, headache, somnolence. General feeling of malaise. A bit like after a night out drinking.

I would describe it as 65% of the malaise you would have with a cold. Minus respiratory symptoms. Today is better though. Colds really mess up my mood.

Glad you feeling better today. Now which we had a scientific person on here that could explain in baby steps how the mrna and the viral vector vaccines work. I can't make heads or tales out of how the really work? Can you? Phillipa

Not really. They are pretty strong though. I don't know of any other vaccine that elicited such a strong reaction.

I have to wonder of course no scientific knowledge since a piece of the virus is inserted could it give you a tiny case of Covid and then the vaccine other parts go to working killing it hence the reactions. I came up with this theory last night? Thoughts? Philipa

It contains the genes of the spike protein. The Virus uses it to attach to our cells. So the spike protein itsself can't give you Covid, because the body of the Virus is missing. The reaction is just an immune reaction. That is what I have been told

If the body has antibodies against the spike protein, the virus can't attach itsself to cells. Something like that.
