I've been taking effexor (112.5 mg/day) for the last six months for depression.
It works, but it keeps falling off. I adjust the dose (with the rec. of my psychiatrist)
a fourth of tablet down and it works again, but then that falls off and I have to go up again.
I like the fact that I feel close to "normal" again, but I just wish it were consistent. Playing with the
dose every few days (sometimes I'm lucky and a specific dose will last a few weeks) is annoying.
Has anyone else had this problem?I was on Paxil for four years, but that stopped working altogether and I am loathe
to get off effexor and try something else.

It unfortunately can be very common for some people and is extremely frustrating. You may wish to review my postings beginning in February of this year to see what has finally stopped the cycle for me. By the way, this phenomenon is often referred to as poop-out. Best wishes… Wayne

Try the Effexor XR (time relese formulation) Effexor moves thru the body quickly and you may not be getting a consistant blood level. I had the same thing happen to me...move up the dose and do fine for a while then have breakthru depression. Moving the Effexor XR solved this problem.
