I keep losing half of the lines of my messege when I submit a post. Also, lines are joined that I had meant to be separated by a space.
Is there a problem using a text-editor to copy and paste?
Could this be caused by using one pair of > for every line?
It is very embarassing.

Ah, I think I might know what's going on. Do you ever use a less-than sign for some reason or another? If so, that could confuse the program. It has a special meaning in HTML.
