Liquid prozac

Does have experience with liquid prozac. I understand by using the liquid form, and starting out slowly, it cuts down on initial agitation and anxiety. Any comments would be welcome

Have no direct experience but know some kids who used it, because of difficulty swallowing pills. For one of them, prozac was not the doc's first choice but she has such difficutly swallowing pills, it was the liquid prozac they went with, at least until the kid developed an awful rash. At that point, she had to get special hypnotherapy to overcome her problem with swallowing so she could take a different med. I would imagine it might make it easier to start gradually with the liquid form. You can do it with the capsule, but it is harder. You "dissolve" the powder in water and divide the "solution" into smaller doses. I use the term "dissolve" tentitavely, because I found that the powder doesn't truly dissolve, it sort of suspends. You can distribute it fairly evenly by shaking the mixture up. I would imaging the liquid form is easier. But I also think that if you have managed care coverage for your prescriptions, they might give you some annoyance about the liquid form, and you might have to get your doc to be assertive.

when I took Prozac, the smallest dose available was 20 mg so it took a while to get up to it, using the graduated method of dumping the powder in water. Now, am I mistaken, or does Prozac come in 10 mg. capsules? In any event, my doc has always started me really slowly in titrating up to therapeutic doses.

I used it to phase in Prozac, because I am prone to side-effects and usually need small doses of ADs. (There is now a 10 mg. capsule, too.) It worked fine as as a way to get my body used to it--except that it tastes pretty nasty, so I was happy to graduate to the 10 mg. capsules.

Recently Prozac became available in a 10mg scored TABLET. This would allow for dosing at 5mg.
