For a long time I took 50mg of zoloft; the prescription
was written as 1/2 of a scored 100mg tablet. Then I went up to
100 mg. My newest prescription involves taking 300mg
of lithium at bed time with 25mg Zoloft in addition to
the 100mg of Zoloft in the morning.30 of the 100 mg tablets only costs about $2 more than
30 of the 50 mg tablets. So, really you're paying twice
as much for the blue pills as for the yellow. Can someone recommend a good pill cutter to cut a 100mg
Zoloft pill into 4 reasonably equal pieces. Thanks,
Abby

I wonder how much tolerance is acceptable- would a few mg's more or less/dose affect the therapeutic effects/side effects?

I found a good pill cutter which doesn't have a name on it, so I can't give you a brand name, but I bought in the CVS pharmacy. It is white, with what looks like a scored pill (a circle with a split down the middle) on top. I wish I could draw the shape for you, but my computer can't do this.
You open it up, it has a hinge on the back, put the pill in an inverted V-shaped partition, and then you close the lid (which holds a mini razor blade) and the pill is split evenly down the center.
I have done this on 150 mg Wellbutrin pills to give a 75 mg dose. Then I take the 75 mg half and slice that in half to give me approx. 37.5 mg. Then I take a half (75mg) and a quarter pill(37.5) to approximate 100mg. It's not exact but as close as I need to be.
I agree splitting pills can save alot of money.
