Remeron & SSRI's?

I have tried Prozac (20 mg) and Celexa (20 mg), and both gave me horrible stomach cramps although I could tell that they were beneficial within a week. I had to stop both of them (taken at different times) because I lost 15 lbs. and had absolutely no appetite. My doctor has recently prescribed me to Remeron, which I have not found to be working at all, but does not have any effect on my stomach. My question is, would it be possible to take an SSRI along with the Remeron to counteract the side affects that they cause and possibly give me faster relief from my depression? Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences?

Hi Nancy. The answer is Yes. This is a pretty common combination. Adding Remeron to an SSRI helps with appetite, sleep, and sexual function. To me it wasn't very helpful by itself for melancholic depression. But it is excellent for managing side effects. JohnL
