I saw part of the report. A doc who did research for a drug company signed a secrecy agreement when signed on to do the research. Then, she found that the brand name drug (I think it was synthroid) was not better than the generic. She was prohibited from reporting it. She was going to report it in JAMA, but the company threatened to sue, and Univ. of Calif., her employer, said she would be on her own with the suit if she published.
Our system leaves funding the research to the drug companies, and even tho independent researchers are the ones doing the work, this story suggests they are silenced if the results are not to the liking of the sponsor. I think we need a new system. We need publicly funded research.

Yeah, I did. I don't know which is worst, the pharm industry or the chicken industry!! Did you see the chicken-catching segment?!?! Catching 2500 chickens a day, basically barehanded, whilst walking in chicken shit ain't one of them high-status professions. No AD could help me there.
