I suffer from dysthymia with chronc fatigue. All the ADs I've taken , including Reboxetine,Welbutrin and now Parnate have exacerbated the tiredness. Right now I can barely keep my eyes open. My doc. says this is unusual. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Thanks Jan

I can't tell you whats going on, but I can certainly relate. Makes you feel useless and helpless.
You might want to try a drug like Provigil(Modafranil/Adrafranil). These drugs are used for narcalepsy but I believe I read somewhere they can be beneficial for fatigue associated with depression.
I haven't tried them yet myself, but am keeping them in mind if my next strategy (stimulants) doesn't help me.
Also get tested for anemia/thyroid/etc.Best of luck to you,
Ant-Rock

I agree on testing thyroid.
Also, any chance you have a sleep disorder of some kind? Do you snore, for instance?
BTW, I don't think it so unusual that you feel more drowsy from your meds. Thing is, you might feel this way from other ADs, too. Perhaps you can talk to your doc about augmenting your ADs with a stimulant, like ritalin.

Janet,
I've read of such an atypical response to Parnate, so your not alone. Here are some suggestions (I wish I could be of more help):
1) Present your question to an expereinced Psychopharmocologist tied to a major University. Such a person is most likely to have expereince with your type of symtomology and may know what should be done to help you.
2) Also, if you are getting a blood test, test for low DHEA or cortisol, both associated with CFS and fatigue.
3) Try a two week trial of magnesium (i.e. 800 mgs/day of Magnesium Citrate). Low magnesium is often associated with CFS and fatigue.
4) Try a 10 day trial of amisulpride (50 mg./day), known as Socian in Brazil. It is a dopamine active AD that can be invigorating. You haven't tried a dopamine active AD yet.My best wishes for your health,
Andrew
