Perhaps this is old news:

Scott - God, I'm from Canada and, to me, this is a foreign-based website. Dr.Bob, I want to see some legal documentation and I want it now. ;^)

Now I'm confused--I thought reboxetine was okay if it was under the supervision of a US pdoc for "personal use," but at http://www.fda.gov/oc/buyonline/faqs.html#faqs12
it sounds like it's not legal. I don't want to start taking something that FINALLY helps me, and then find out I can't get it anymore.

Protest songs ... and separation of church/state

Geez, where are the Sex Pistols or Country Joe and the Fish when you really need them?

[to quote Neil Innes: I've suffered long for my music; now it's your turn]

I want to be an iAnarchist!
I want my own iPharmacist! ...

And it's one, two, three, what's this prescription for?
Not approved in the USA? Too bad, we're the FDA
And it's five, six, seven, we're shuttin' down your connection
Well there ain't point to fuss or whine
You can't buy this stuff on-line ...

Where have you gone, Abbie Hoffman?
The internet turns it's lonely screens to you ...

We don't need no regulation,
We don't need no Fed control
No Men in Black tracking our refills
Leave iPharmacies alone
Hey Narcos! Leave iPharms alone ...

And I dreamed I saw the bomberjet planes
filling scripts up in the sky
dropping down SSRIs above our nation! ...

I went to my Congressman, he said, quote:
"I'd write you out a script, boy, but not for depakote."
Sometimes I wonder what I'm a gonna do
Coz there ain't no cure for the FDA blues ...

FDA we're not contagious
Still we need help, medicate us!
I feel anxious, nerves abraded
Look at me de-compensated!
Social phobia, and bipolar
Personali-ty disorder
paranoia!paranoia!paranoia!paranoia!paranoia!paranoia!paranoiaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

Two last songs, for what it's worth--

What a victory for the Feds
No more on-line buying of meds
So its a "safer" system they've made
Run out of meds? take your scipt to the corner Rite Aid
I think it's time we leave, hey, south we go
Find a cybercafe in Mexico

... and, what list of protest songs would be complete without:

You can get any med you need at Alice's iPharmacy
(excepting Alice)
You can get any med you need at Alice's iPharmacy
Log right in, you're safe from the Feds
Our line's 256-bit encrypted
You can get any med you need at Alice's iPharmacy...

[yes, I *do* have better things to do, but it's Sunday, so joke'em.]
--------------------

First the Feds want to privitize the net, then they want to regulate it. I guess they can make more money from taxing a private enterprise than they can from operating it as a wholey-owned subsidiary of the US of A.[never mind the early years of the TVA, before power company lobbiests started messing with it.]

[some Gentle Readers out there may need to insert tongue firmly into cheek at this point...]

Hmmm ... I think I just got a great idea. Maybe we could convince the Vatican to open up a shop. As a holy-owned subsidiary of the Throne of St. Peter, we could force the feds to keep their hands off of our religious practices. Especially with JP-II apologizing for the sins of the Church over the past few millenia, we might have a good shot at a sympathetic audience on this. Following up on JanetR's connections between a Catholic upbringing and depression (and my own experiences of the same), we might be able to turn that most powerful of the Church's scourges -- Guilt -- right back at them.

Besides, with dropping attendance at Mass and, therefore, less being tithed to the Church, they could probably use the money, too. Add to that the increasing average age of those of the cloth, the Vatican could probably use a source of meds that they could receive "at cost" with no middleman markup. It's a win-win situation.

It's not like they're all that new to dispensing cures for what ails anyway ... I mean, just go back to the dispensation of indulgences, modernize the operation with computers, update the database, and get a secure storefront up on the web. Simple thing, nowadays.

just trying to make the world a better place,

I feel the same way you do. I'm not even that crazy about using something that is not available at the corner drug store. I feel as if my mental health is always hanging by a thread, and at the mercy of the international postal system.

I have just ordered my first bottle of reboxetine from London.

Anyway, from what I could surmise from the FDA statement, there should not be any problem if you stay within the guidelines proscribed in the following FDA document:

http://www.fda.gov/ora/compliance_ref/rpm_new2/ch9pers.html

In general, I'm not sure you need to do much more than provide the pharmacy with a prescription script and a letter from your doctor describing your illness and how the drug is to be administered.

Noa, I agree. Bob, I love, your song parody! Having grown up in the 60's, I find it sad that nobody cares about issues anymore.

bob,
Keep posting your song parodies and maybe I won't need that reboxetine! You actually made me laugh--maybe we could get Dr. Bob to use some of them for the home page music?

Okay, so I really thought your protest song was funny and I called my pdoc's answering machine this morning- so maybe it was about 4am-and sang it- he should have been happy that I didn't call him and sing it. Anyway he called me today and asked if I'm taking my zyprexa- like I would when I just got into my size 8 jeans, okay I have to lay down and hold my breath in order to pull up the zipper- but please, don't you think he's over- reacting????

I think its totally wonderful! I have been wondering how to make his day!!! Don't give me too many more ideas!!

We all have so much latitude in our demonstrations of acceptable behavior, that a little hell raising is in order now and then!

Keep up the good work!''

At work today, I saw a note posted that employee drug testing will be used, and employees are not to be taking anything but prescription Rx prescribed in the US (no out-of-country-sold drugs such as Mexican diet pills). Plus, they insisted that if you take Rx. medications, they cannot be from an expired prescription. I only take currently prescribed Rx, so am not worried about any testing. But wonder if the memo I saw was an outcome from the FDA letter Scott told us about (?). BTW, I work at a state prison (so the authoritarian approach is customary, with employees).

LOL.

You are a funny funny person.

On a more serious note, I worry that there is a big CRASH that tags along just behind this whirlwindy, sleepless, funny, fun, phase you are in now.

BTW, are you able to work during this current high?

I'm totally convinced I have an extreme hyperthymic personality and therefore won't crash and burn. I'm now redefining the symptoms of hypomania all curiously enough starting with S- Sex, Spending, Speeding, Sleeping (lack of), Sitting in chairs and falling out and Sex (I know I've already said that, but it bears mentioning twice). Mania is when Spouse takes Symptomatic person to pSych hospital for Shot of haldol and Seven days of Stabilizing meds and it's Sayonara happy high. So what do you think, should I send it in for the DSM V?
