Have a young friend who has definitely stopped using pot. However, she tested positive (only slightly) for marijuana. Does anyone know how that works and what the chances are of that being for real?! (Oh, should mention that she quit using about 2 months ago.)

james here.....
Positives are checked with gas cromotography and gas cromo is 100 % correct as a substance only has 1 burning point. Check to see if the lab double checks positives. Most have to because western blot gives false positives.james

Patty - Heavy users can test positive 3 months after the last joint. Just ask our Olympic snowboarder Ross Rigliatti (sp?). They drug testers usually do a follow-up pee test to confirm positive results, as false positives are fairly common. - Cam W.

///I forgot to mention that she is being tested every week and she was quite sure there was no reason for a positive, but she had one. Even visited the lab and they said it indicated to them that she had taken a few "puffs." Well, you know...what's the point of that? Anyway, the reading was one point higher the second time! Go figure! I think she said it went from something like 23 to 24.....could that be right? I'm not "up" on this stuff. Also, regarding Ross Rigliatti, I thought he claimed to have simply been partying around folks who smoked and the Olympic hot shots accepted that as a possibility. Hm-m-m-m....think that would work for probation?!
