CAM~one more ? about zoloft please

Posted by Tammy on March 31, 2000, at 1:16:05

I mentioned yesterday that my doctor upped my zoloft to 100mg. I was wondering ...is it best to take the whole 100mg at the beginning of the day with my breakfast, or to break it in half and take half in the morning and half later on in the day? Just curious...if you take them in the morning...are they time released? Thanks...you and your wife have been very kind.
Luv,
Tammy

Tammy - Zoloft is (almost always) just as effective when it is taken once daily, as it is twice daily. (I have seen one case in which a lady claimed the Zoloft didn't last all day. Could she have been a fast metabolizer? - maybe.). Also, you can judge by your stomach upset or by convenience. The Zoloft are not time-released, they just have a half-life of approximately one day (26h). I would personally prefer once daily as the stomach ache (if there is one) is only once daily and it is easier to fit a once day dosing into a regular daily routine. The choice is yours, but hopefully someone on this site will give a second opinion. Good luck - Cam W.

Thanks for the quick reply! I shall heed your advice. I haven't had too bad of a stomach upset. But I think I will just take it all in the morning then. This board islucky to have your vast knowledge!
