Hi there, I've been reading through all the messages here and have gained some great insite so thanks to all. My Dr. has prescribed Effexor for Social Anxiety, which I have quite really badly. Has anyone else had been told to use Effexor for this or only for depression? Tried Buspar for 6 weeks, no use at all.

>I personally do not have social anxiety, but I have heard success with Paxil, although it is tough to get off of. Effexor, I have tried. It was not the drug for me, though. I also hear this one is tough to withdraw from. Most of the people I know, that need help socially are taking larger amounts of Prozac or Zoloft to sooth that anxious beast in your stomach.

Annie, I know how you feel. Try neurontin. If you don't care about weight gain go for Nardil. Nardil almost always work once you get up to the right dose. Also--there are new drugs in the works.
