Speaking of secret identities, is grannybabble really the famous boBB?
I ask because the only person who ever says anything I thought of saying is boBB, except for today---when grannybabble mentioned "loose associations" being an indicator of creativity. Right on.

Maybe we listen to the same cosmic radio station, luna...
But no, grannybabble and i are not the same person. We might get along, if we met in person, (and we both have three "b"s)
I would defend my comments, noted below, while grannybabble insists that they are inappropriate and are likely the product of mental illness. I have a diverse, multi-faceted personality, but I claim all of it, and try not to contradict any of it.

Honey, are you off your medication? Mentally ill people (if you consider
yourself mentally ill) often lack the insight to realize their comments are
inappropriate. Please see your Pdoc soon!Love and hugs-granny

> Love and hugs-grannySorry, boBB. I guess I was too groggy to be posting. I thought granny was talking to Elizabeth, not you! And I didn't seriously think you were granny--I was just babbling because I couldn't sleep. (Going off drugs I've been on for 12 years despite doc saying I should stay on them the rest of my life. I am not at my best, and didn't mean to impugn your consistency).

Hi boBB
Maybe we at least hear the same different drummer
once in a while.I would never call you or anyone else mentally ill.
I think being mentally ill is a lot like being a
Baptist. You have to make that decision for
yourself, nobody else can sign you up. This does
not mean I don't believe the painful feelings and
problems with perceptions or thought are not real.
I just don't call them an illness, I call them a difference.
But if other people want to call themselves mentally ill,
I believe they have that right. And I think anyone that
wants a little ritalin to get through the day should
have it without being forced to declare herself
mentally ill.I think your labeling Bob as a drug pusher might
be accurate if not very polite. The ladies down
by the pool seem to brag about their son the doctor
and grandson the medical student , but no one
mentions their child the drug pusher.I didn't know you came up with the title porn king
for Bob. I thought it was Elizabeth's idea when I
made my little sally into humor. I must not have
read that post if it was your idea and I really don't
see that connection. My dictionary said pornography
was the stirring up of lascivious feelings, impulses
etc. Sweet little Dr. Bob???? I have as many hormones
as anyone even if they do come from a box at the
drugstore and frankly....well let's just say I've not
been troubled. Frankly, from the number of posts on
the subjects it seems like most of these drugs are serving
the cause of celibacy and anti-lasciviousness .I can't always follow all your reasoning and don't
always agree with you but I like your posts and love
to see people looking at things with
eyes wide open.

Granny,
> no one mentions their child the drug pusher. We must not live in the same neighborhood!
> I didn't know you came up with the title porn king
> for Bob. I thought it was Elizabeth's idea when I
> made my little sally into humor.I didn't know if you were responding to the drug pusher label or the porn king thing. I thought Elizabeth was using some verbal judo, saying "yeh, he's a drug pusher, and a porn king." I would expect her to have said, "maybe he shot the Kennedy's too," carrying my statement a step further to demonstrate its absurdity.
I grabbed the drug pusher label during a rather heated exchange in which Dr. Bob had suggested that he would block a guy, Fred, who was expressing some rather barbed outrage over being forcibly subjected to ECT. The idea was to place myself in the line of fire, gambling that someone would stop shooting.
My position, since I first infected this board, has been that psychiatry has something to offer but that licensed practitioners do not rightly enjoy the privilage to monopolize the practice of medicine. I can call the Doc drug dealer without meaning it as an insult because I don't buy into the moral presumptions that go with the popular hatred for street drugs. Methamphetamine, Dexadrine, Ritalin, what's the difference, I ask. The prison system is more a destructive force than are illegal drugs that supposedly imprison people. We are supposed to lock people up because they fell into a trap? I don't think so! As you said, the discussions on this board reflect hazards indigenous to legal pdrugs that are more or less equivilant to the risks of street drugs. Beyond this anecdotal evidence, I recall reports that suggest 10's of thousands of people die annually from adverse reactions or misapplication of legal drugs. (University of Missouri, 1997?)
It seems Dr. Bob countenances some of the best communitarian spirit that, IMHO, is a uniquely Asian quality, in the way he shares the franchise to medicine by opening this board to the virually unrestricted conversation, pro, con and neutral about both legal and illegal drugs. Some pdocs, it has been reported here, resent his willingess to share the franchise to medical knowledge. That I dare step onto the mat with him to spar over how open he keeps his board is a sign of respect. I would simply ambush a less worthy person. Anyway, I stood down my outrage when Fred apparently returned to the board to report that he was voluntarily abstaining, that he had not been blocked, and that he was not the repeat offender as Dr. Bob suspected. For the most part, Dr. Bob is very even handed and measured in his own participation in the discussion he fostered. As drug dealers go, he is the kind I tend to trust.
This is the end of the thread.
