half life of Celexa

Posted by Kevin Jr. on June 16, 2000, at 8:27:08

Hello,
My girlfriend was on Paxil for a year, Wellbutrin for 3 months, and Celexa for a year. She has been off all meds for 3 month, and has bad headaches and still no libido. Does anyone know how long these side effects will comtinue?
Thanks

Why do you think side effects ?

You don't say what she was under treatment for.

I don't know why you think the no libido & headaches are residual side-effects. 3 months is plenty of time for med clearance.

It is much more likely that these are residual primary problems. If they presisted when she was on the meds, there was probably not full remission of primary symptoms. It is quite easy to confuse primary symptoms & early ssri side-effects. The withdwawal symptoms are also similar.

How is she otherwise ? perhaps she is still fighting depression /anxiety ?

we feel for you ! good luck .

She is off the meds and doing wonderfully, thanks. Killer quotidian migraines, (I've always wanted to use the word, "quotidian"), and no libido are the problem now. Migraines have tapered down in frequency and severity, (she's having an MRI as I type just to be safe). We thought perhaps the meds stayed in the sytem for several months, (her psychiatrist moved and she hasn't found a replacement yet, so she can't get a professional opinion right now, hence my locating Dr. Bob's page).

Thanks for you infor and well wishes.

Kevin Jr.
