I get the impression it would be an exceptionally poor choice to attempt suicide with. Judging from the headaches some get when they up the dose, you might wish you were dead.

Norman - I read a case report of a person taking 6.75 grams (90 x 75mg tablets) and recovered with supportive care. He/she reported that he/she felt a little dizzy and tired. New medications are designed to be safer than their older counterparts. If Tylenol were to have to go through FDA phase trials today, it would never make it to market - Cam

Hi Norman Just wanted to make sure you're all right. I always wonder when people ask questions about lethal dosages. Are you suicidal? Are you presently taking effexor? People here would be glad to listen if you'd like to talk about it. If I'm misinterpreting, I apologize. Best wishes O.

i'm taking effexor, depakote, buspar, loraepam, and wellbutrin. i guess i'm as crazy as they come!
my psychdoc says that most likely i will always have suicidal tendencies. i'm sick of all the pills, and trying to remember when to take them all. i quit taking them on my own: mistake. that was a really bad time.so, i figured that i would "go for broke" and just take all my pills for the month all at the sam time. what a cure all!!

I'm not sure that was an accurate statement for your psych to make. Is there any way for you to get a second opinion? If your doctor isn't taking your suicidal impulses seriously he isn't doing his job.
I'm really concerned about you. Are you still thinking of taking all your pills at once? Please DON'T. Even if it didn't kill you it could cause a lot of damage and be very unpleasant.
Have you been depressed for a long time? There are people on the board (I'm not one of them) who know a lot about medicine. Maybe if you could give a few more details about your depression and what has and hasn't worked, they could give you some suggestions.
On a practical note-have you tried buying a pill box at the drugstore so you can organize your pills and make it easier to remember them?
Anyway, please stick around and keep posting and don't try for a "cure all" (at least you haven't lost your sense of humour:-)
Best wishes O.

I was prescribed 225 mg Effexor xr (3x 75mg capsules) but was mistakenly given 150 mg capsules instead. i understand 225 is pharma co. max dossage so i was taking twice max limit. i took this for 19 days. does anyone know of long term side effects-damage this may cause and what side effects usually are...i suffered lots but have very little memory of just what i went through.
Thanks

Hello there,
Actually the max dose is 600mg. I take 450 mg. You should be fine. Maybe some side effects from going up so fast in dosage. How did you feel during this time?

I went from 150 mg to 450 mg (by wrong perscription) in one jump and I've been told max dosage is 600mg but nowhere have i seen this dosage recommended by Pharma.Co. I've been taking the XR version of this med. abd still looking for long term or side effects.
