Does anyone know what the dose of Nardil is that should block panic attacks? I've been on these damn things for years and my panic was never fully blocked (at 3 sometimes 4 pills at night) PLEASE HELP. I'm starting to have a hard time getting around in my own neighborhood. Agoraphobia is getting the better of me.

Paul:
I was on Nardil for about 4 years taking 3 tablets per day (don't remember the mg.)...but then it just pooped out on me. Also at that time I was augmenting it with 1mg Xanax 2x per day.
I guess my questions to you would be, 1.) Do you think it's just stopped working for you? 2.) Are you augmenting it with another anti-anxiety agent? 3.) What does your pdoc say?
Let me hear from you...I know how frustrating that type of situation can be.
My best,
Jane

I take 6 pills a day (max dose). 3 in am and 3 at bedtime. Works 95% of the time and I can forsee at what times I should take .5-1.5mg of xanax to offset any "breakthrough". Sounds like time to increase your dose...and consider taking it twice a day instead of all at once...it does make a difference. Jennifer

> Jennifer, I just remembered that close to the beginning of me finding this board, you had to go off your meds to take tests for cushings disease. Then I didn't see you post for a long time and I forgot. So, you survived being off meds. How did your test come out; how are you feeling? Sorry, I didn't make the connection until this evening when I read the nardil thread that it was you who I had been posting to. Shellie

Shellie, thanks for remembering! I am still doing tests for the cushing's. It takes several months. I don't get to see the endocrinologist until next month once all the basic testing is done. I have one more blood test this week where they try to drive down my cortisol level with steroids and see what happens.
As far being off the Nardil, it was a disaster!!! I was off less than a week and I completely fell apart. I called the MD and said the could diagnose the cushings with me on the Nardil, of I could stay off it and they could diagnose it at my autopsy! She agreed to me going back onto it. It took about 3 days to start getting the level back up again, but now I'm fine. Thank goodness! I'll keep you updated when I find anything out.
