Zoloft and libido

Posted by Winfield on September 13, 2000, at 23:39:47

My girlfriend has been on zoloft for the last 6 or 7 months, her libido has diminished a good deal since I've been with her and shes been on the zoloft. In the first couple of months we had much more than a good sexual relationship\
Anyway, she had read somewhere that taking a testosterone patch for a month would jump start her libido. Has anyone else heard of this, or have any other suggestions?
Thanks
WIn

windfied, to my limited knowledge of antidepressants, most of,if not all, have this side effect in some men and woman. I am on celexa at this time and the doctor suggested next time i see him he will add wellbuterin (sp?) in conjuntion w/ celexa to 'help' the sexual side effect of using celexa. It seems you are a understanding boyfriend and this is a good thing for your girlfriend right now. all the side effects are a pain but better then feeling like crud mentally. so keep supporting her and perhaps she can ask her doctor about this other drug and if it would work w/ the meds she is on now.

i would also like to add that your girlfriend is very lucky that she has an understanding boyfriend during this. i've been on zoloft and had the same side affects and it takes not only a lot of getting used to to go from a healthy sex life to no sex life, but its also a blow to her self esteem/and or self image.
