I am taking the Effexor XR-150 mg a day. The last 2 mornings, i have had a spell, that starts
as a really intense stomach cramp. This pain gets worse through the entire spell, then I start sweating very
badly, to the point of sweat literally pouring off my body. I get dizzy. And lastly, my hands go completely numb.
This lasts about 30 minutes at the most. After that, Im fine.....
I am wondering if this could be caused by the Effexor?
I have had a few of these spells in the past, and I have been on medication in the past for depression. This is the first
time I have been on Effexor- and the first time I have had 2 spells in 2 days.
The other spells were probably months apart, just out of the blue.
Help!!!????

I took Effexor XR, and never experienced this, however I can tell you that I have taken many different drugs, and each one affected me totally differently. Also drugs effect everyone diffrently. Now I know your probably tired of hearing these BS statements over and over so I'll make it short. It sound like it could be med related, check out the meds side effect profile at rxlist.com. I'm willing each one you described is there (stomach cramping, sweating, numbness or tingling in extremities) I don't know how long you've been on Effexor, but i would give it a little time for you body to adjust. Many people report this being a good drug. So call your doctor, let him/her know whats happening, and then try using Pepto or take med w/food for the stomache cramping. Cheers!

Wow, yes, I've experienced the same thing!
And it happened not only when I was on Effexor.Do you feel like you are losing consciousness?
Sometimes I actually do.....and then my limbs are so heavy its hard to move, and takes 15 min or so to kind of wake up again.I always thot it must be some kind of anxiety attack....but I don't know.

I dont know if it is anxiety, or not.....Ive never known anxiety to hurt so much.
But, as I said, it has happened to me in the past at times I have not been on medication.
