Im glad to see that I am not the only one who gained weight taking the Effexor XR.
I did not think that it was just me.
I have decided to take myself off this medication.
I would rather not be fat AND depressed.
over the last few days, I have only taken 75 mg a day.
Could tell a difference in my mood, and overall feelings.
Yesterday, I did not take any, until finally, I was about to crawl
out of my skin with everything bothering the hell out of me.
I have never been so damn irritated in all my life.
I finally split the capsule in half, and took that.
What a difference. I felt normal even with that little bit.
I am determined to get off this...I will not get fat!!
I dont know if I have really started suffering from any of the other
horrible side effects yet. Maybe a slight headache, but so far, that is
all i have noticed other than the terrible mood.
Any suggestions or advice?

I came off effexor xr cold turkey, and although the symptoms were pretty bad, they only lasted about a week. I must admit I needed Xanax to sleep, but if you take this for 1 week it's not going to hurt. I felt very strange and had that electric shock felling in my head all the time - kind of like a human salt shaker. If you have the patience, i'd say cutting down is best - are you going to start a new med - there is usuallu a time period in which you can take up a new one whilst coming off th eoled. I put on heaps of weight with effexor (8kgs) and that was depressing me as much as anything - the last thing I needed was to obsess about my weight as well as all my other fears. Good luck, it's worth it in the end .
