TOURETTES

Has anyone had experience with Effexor or other treatments for Adults Tourettes? I'm currently on Prozac prescribed by my Doctor, but it's profile makes no sense with Tourettes...in fact, I think it's worsened the tic disorder. Any feedback is appreciated! Brian

Brian,

Mecamylamine is a drug recently put back on the US market. It seems it can be effective for adult Tourettes. See "Treatment of Tourette Syndrome with Mecamylamine", The Lancet, Aug 29 '98. This report also notes that many of the pateints studied also had an improvement in mood, in particular, decreased irritability and aggression.
