It seems I'm depressed again. To tell the truth,
I haven't been completely well for the last four
years.I'm wondering if you people have any ideas re Meds.
Right now I'm taking:
Nortriptyline (Tricyclic) 150mg
Celexa (SSRI) 20mg
Lithium 1200mg
Clonazepam. 1.5mgThe problem I had before was the SSRI's would work
for awhile, but when I tried to increase the dose
I'd get really agitated (eg., wouldn't sleep for
three days). The Nortriptyline seems to work,
but not very well. It also makes concentration
difficult. I feel really drugged out.
I added the Celexa to get some lift, but it is
really not working. I guess the only thing left
is MOAIs.Any suggestions?

Nortriptyline was a nightmare for me, when I took it: it worked against the depression, at least enough for the therapy to have some effect, but I was tired, sleepless, and gained about 75 pounds.
Let's see: the SSRIs were helping until you upped the dosage? How about trying one of the newer drugs, like Effexor or Serzone? They're similar, but work differently. Maybe that would help you?
And a good therapist is worth his or her weight in gold and precious gems. If you're not seeing a talk-doc, hie thee to one! If you are, but it's not helping, remember that you can interview a number of them before choosing one. It's like dating, if the chemistry is not there, you can't force it.
Good luck.
