Hi to all--
Wellbutrin has proven to be quite innefective for me, and that is putting it mildly. This is probably the worst med. experience with the exception of Anafranil.
I've been so panic- ridden, I do not dare to leave my house. Other effects: nausea, confusion, insomnia, mental agitation and confusion, psychotic thoughts, compulsive behavior. My next appointment with a new Pdoc is a couple weeks away. My Family Doctor has given me a mild tranquilizer so I can at least function. I cannot wait four weeks for the Wellbutrin to maybe stabilize itself. I have too many responsibilities, including being a Mom, which the most important one, of course.
Question to anybody, how long does it take for a med. to get out of my system?
My Doc. also gave me a prescription for Prozac, mainly b/c I asked him for it, since it had been effective for a year or so. He was relunctant to give me anything else, he urged me to see a Pdoc instead. I was lucky to find one that was even taking new patients. There was only one in this area that was and for that I have to wait about 3 weeks. That't pretty crazy to me.
Thanks to all for your support. I've been reading most of the posts to acquire knowledge and to keep me going.
I also ordered Dr. Jensen's book, I'm interested in finding out more about his treatment method.
Peace to all and thanks, again.

i had a similar response to wellbutrin-- very confused, spacey, my mind felt like it had been sheathed in layers of cotton candy. my pdoc really wanted it to work , and i had to take it for 3 weeks! it seemed like the negative effects went away within the first few days w/o the med. i'm unsure of what your diagnosis is-- i'm guessing depression? as i said, i had a similar response to the wellbutrin, but i found that remeron did the trick for my depression, i feel quite close to normal! i'm sure you've read of the side effects of remeron-- weight gain and sedation are the most common. if nothing else seems to be working, give it a try. it affects my depression within the first 2 days.

Wellbutrin made me a nervous wreck and I couldn't sleep and had similar effects that you had. I gave it enough time, too, but if a medicine is making me completley beserk now I will go off of it-even if I have to wean myself off slowly. I am now taking paxil and effexor-so far so good. The best combo. I've had yet. One is to treat an anxiety disorder (paxil for the ocd) and the other for depression. Good luck!!

Other effects: nausea, confusion, insomnia, mental agitation and confusion, psychotic thoughts, compulsive behavior.I know someone who had a similar reaction taking Zyban (same stuff, lower dose) to help stop smoking. I think they got back to normal after a while on Prozac.
I tried it and had flu-like symptoms: nausea, aches, exhaustion. When the extended release came out, I tried it again with the same intolerable side effects, just an onset delayed a day from the first experience.
This is the end of the thread.
