Does anyone out there break their Eskalith CR in two
where the tablets are scored? I've been doing it for
a month or so to match my new dosage rather than use
regular lithium because it wreaks havoc on my stomach.
The SmithKline Beecham Prescribing Information does not
state that Eskalith CR should not be broken, but it does
state that regular lithium should be used if closer
dosage "titration" (their word) is required.Am I messing up the controlled release properties by
breaking the tablets? My logic (however flawed) is
that since the tablets are scored, they are meant to
be broken.Thanks for your help.

Will just be starting on Eskalith 450 CR, and my
pdoc said absoultely to split the tabs so I'll be
taking 225 twice a day.
Perhaps we could all make millions of dollars by
having people send in their meds, we split them,
and then mail them back. Hmmm...perhaps I'm
needing more than 450 mg....Happy splitting!
