I will make this as brief as possible- thank goodness for your board- I have OCD and have been on Luvox for 4 years. I went off for 4 months last year and resumed my 150mg dose in January this year. Since May this year I have had incoordination of arms and hands, muscle twitching and jerking especially right foot, muscles feel heavy and tight, jaw aches when I chew, extreme fatigue(exhaustion), my arms feel like I worked out for 3 hours after I wash my hair, hyper reflexes, startle very easy, pins and needles periodically everywhere, numbness and tingling everywhere, burning sensations on various parts of my body, slowed mental proceses, slurred and slowed speech, trouble swallowing, difficulty walking poor balance and severely gross soaking night sweats, blurred vision at times, crawly sensations on my skin. All symptoms come and go from 10 minutes to hour. My tests are all normal except an ANA showed moderately positive semi histone quantitative, I have slightly elevated thyroid antibody, and a small venous anomaly on the left side of my brain. I am 31, female and healthy till this. Hx of asthma, easy brusing. I've had an MRI, CAT of all of my spine, lumbar puncture, lyme tests, syphillis tests, MS ruled out, parneoplastic cancer ruled out. My psych doc says it can't be luvox I'm on too small a dose. Any thoughts? I am seeing a different doc in 2 weeks. Please help- I'm so lost and frustrated. Thanks sooo much. Sorry about the novel. > LisaHi Lisa,
Let me start by saying that for your Dr. to say it "couldn't have been the Luvox" is ignorant, simple-minded, and just plain wrong. Many different types of meds can cause all sorts of adverse reactions. It sounds like your on the right track to having the proper tests done. I myself had a horrible adverse reaction to a low-dose anti-depressant that all but destroyed my nervous system for years. My legs were weak, like rubber, allergies went haywire, and I could go on and on. Just remember Lisa, that if the Luvox did actually cause this reaction, there is a very good chance that symptoms will wane. This may take a while, hopefully not too long , but don't be surprised if some symptoms linger longer than others.
Anyway, you might want to do a search on "google.com", insert the words "luvox, adverse reaction" or luvox and one or more of your symptoms. Other than this my only other advice would be to keep getting tested and researching your symptoms, eventually you will find the cause.
Sincerely,
Anthony
