My doctor just increased my dose of celexa from 20mg to 40mg. I'm wondering how soon till I start to feel better? The first time I took 20mg I was hyper and felt great this time at 40mg I'm tired and am yawning constantly. He suggested an increase since I'm not feeling too great and have put on weight. Has any one experimented with other ways to increase seratonin levels to use with the antidepressants?

To combat the tiredness and yawns...try up-ing the Celexa from 20 to 30mgs first for a week, then up to 40mgs. I know that for me I have to boost meds slowly or else I get worse side effects.
As for when you will feel better.....well...it is different for everyone. The meds you take, how your metabolism works with them, etc, etc...etc.
Celexa was great for me and worked for a year until my metabolism finally crapped out. I topped out on 60mgs of Celexa a day.best of luck!

> Oh man! How do you know when its not working?Well, I used it for depression (Bipolar II with atypical depression),and it was pretty easy to confirm when the depression came back. My depression seems to be fairly treatment resistant. I've tried a plethora of meds since, and have not had the success I had on Celexa. It was just a wonder for me. I've never had an AD work so well for me in such a short amount of time. I had positive results within days with it, not weeks.
It may take a couple of weeks before you see changes. If you are just now being boosted I would think that is a good guage that you may be able to take Celexa for a while yet :^)Tdaneen
