Can anyone give me a laymans explanation of a antipsychotic drug such as Seroquel? Is it like a AD in that it has to build up in your system to work? Or is it like Activan were in goes in and out of your system?
I am looking for something to help me sleep. I don't like sleeping drugs such as Ambien, Temazapan. I feel mentally drained the next day.
Thank you
Lynne

In reply to Seroquel? What does antipsychotic mean?, posted by Lynne on February 8, 2001, at 9:57:04
Seroquel is wonderful for sleep--from the first dose you take. Its very powerful. I took it for a couple months (I don't have psychosis).
Seroquel has an anti-manic effect, but little antidepressant effect. Zyprexa has more of an antidepressant effect when combined with Prozac, according to the latest study.

As for Prozac and Zyprexa , they are coming out with a pill that is made up of both Prozac and Zyprexa together. It will be out this year. It sound great.
Thanks Again,
