I have had really good luck with Topamax and Lamictal but I have made a decision to go off both drugs and get on with my life. I am tapering off both drugs on my own. Has anyone ever experienced a seizure going off these meds? If so what happened? I am trying to go off fairly fast. I am trying to get on with my life. I am tired of the time my doctors appointments take away from my new job, I am also tired of the expense of 2 medications and office visits. It is time to put an end to all this madness. I already canceled all my appointments, medication and therapy. Now I just need to get off the meds, if anyone can explain what to expect if this should happen I would appreciate it. Lexie

Perhaps you could just drop the Topamax and continue with the Lamictal. Lamictal has the most benign side-effect profile in a medicine that I have ever experienced.
--It has no anticholinergic side-effects
--No cognitive difficulties
--No sexual dysfunction
--Little or no weight gain
--No permanent side-effects known to man> I have had really good luck with Topamax and Lamictal but I have made a decision to go off both drugs and get on with my life. Are you sure this is best for you -- to go off so abruptly, and without a doctor's supervision? I've tried this and it was hell. You have a serious illness -- I think this is a big risk you're taking. Haven't you been hospitalized for your depression? It sounds pretty serious. And what about your child? You have to stay well for him.
