Scary time and a psychopharmachologist from hell. In a nutshell: I've been on antidepressant for 10 years, beginning with Prozac, ending with Celexa 20 mg day. Quit cold because of muscle aches and serious short-term memory loss. Catapulted into: good memory, no aches/pains, but wide awake, fast talking, high energy, feeling of low level electric shock/tremor running through me, no focus, barely in control angry being. (I'm on synthroid so checked--tsh,t4 ok; sugar levels ok.) After 2 weeks called psychofarm who put me on Topomax (1 pill--shaky, sleepless, head buzz, tight throat/chest). Next, Neurontin 100 mg 2x day: this leaves me feeling buzzy and removed, dizzy. Less angry, sleeping ok, still experiencing low-level shock feeling, developing new body pain, teary. After taking it don't dare drive a car for a few hours. So that's been 3 days of meds! I'm afraid of seeing what she'll throw at me next, and this body is so med sensitive! Tempted to quit her and just try 1, 20 mg Celexa every other day
until I might stabilize. I've never written one of these bits before, but I'm needing some help here. Anyone?

Hi. One of the toughest problems I've had (being very med-sensitive, too) is to be patient with meds. Some side effects actually go away and may be worth it to get to the ... euthymic land. It is very helpful to me to read of others experiences.
Try the "Search" feature located on these pages for past input (a good activity to do while waiting for responses here as well as giving some additional historic information from users who might not be posting anymore and/or don't want to repeat themselves ... like I'm doing here). :)
Here's some of my own (selective) research for you:
(1) Edward S. Hume's "Bipolar Disorder, the hidden epidemic ": http://www.pshrink.com/wisdom/bipolar_disorder.html [this is most interesting reading which states: "Many patients who have depression have unrecognized bipolar disorder. Many people with bipolar disorder respond only partially or not at to antidepressants." Then goes on to offer anecdotal words on the various mood stabilizers."]
And, within Psychobabble, some more recent (again, selective, I'm biased) threads:
(2) Topamax (topiramate) Experiences thread: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20001231/msgs/50878.html
(3) Lamictal (lamotrigine) thread [Bipolar(II) Expert *Please*]: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20010302/msgs/55442.html
Good luck.

thanks Phillybob for reply.
What I'm doing after all the reading & threads is saying 'uncle': took myself off everything, repeating 'this is chemical; stay safe, don't analyze, drink lots of water!' Then put myself on St John's Wort and Omega III oil, figuring if I were a cavewoman I wouldn't be able to crawl to CVS... Now taking lots of notes as stuff surfaces, all of which I'll discuss with a Dr when I find a decent one. This self-focus is almost as bad as the med! Whew.
This is the end of the thread.
