I have upped my remeron dose to 30mg as of last night and still could not fall asleep. Ended up taking 10 of ambien and then slept straight through for 6 hours. But, I really do not want to get into the ambien thing every night and was wondering if anyone knows if it is ok to take low dose trazodone (50mg) with the remeron to help facilitate sleep? Remeron makes me sleepy but it seems I need something else to push me over the edge. Thanks.

I take it with no problems-- I posted what I do in the appetite thread above.

Hi. My doctor told me that Remeron only works well for sleep at low doses and loses its effectiveness at higher doses. I had problems staying asleep and he said to try 15 mg of Remeron and if that didn't work, to *decrease* it to 7.5. When that didn't work, he added Trazadone, 50 mg. The combo works well for me. I hope this helped. -Amy

Thanks for all your input. Last night I took 30mg remeron, 9mg melatonin and after a while, took 10mg of ambien when I couldn't fall asleep. That put me out and I slept most of the night but felt a little wiped out this morning....my pdoc said I coud try the remeron + trazodone combo but would rather have me continue with what I am taking until the anti-depressant effects of the remeron kick in. I have ony been on it for about a week or so. Hopefully, when I get that benefit my sleep will improve...
