I have tried substituting my use of Ativan with using Atarax or Valium. One day I took 5 mg of Valium...I felt awful!!! I have not touched the stuff since, can anyone give me an idea of a more PROPER dose of Valium for anxiety? 2mg? is that still to much? I would rather NOT experiment with it again! LOL....Thanx

I take 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg before bed. I am trying to cut down to just the five in the morning because I have a tough time waking up. What kind of bad things have you had happen? This is the only benzo I have taken and haven't had problems except I tried to taper to quickly once which I have since resolved. Let me know if you have more ?'s Later, Jeff

Sniff! Sniff!A "PROPER" dose of Valium is one that is served on an unsalted Ritz cracker with a small dollop of Russian Beluga Caviar plunked on top. Moet is a nice touch.
When "experimenting" with Valium, please keep in mind this name: Karen Ann Quinlan (http://www.who2.com/karenannquinlan.html).
If you "...would rather NOT experiment with it again," then, by all means, don't!
It's as simple as that.
