wellbutrin side effects - hallucinations

Posted by ariana on June 6, 2001, at 19:04:00

hello
I've been doing a bit of antidepressant research recently and i came across this website-
I used to be on wellbutrin, about a year ago; 300 mg a day (i think that was my dose, it could have been less)
and I experienced moderate hallucinations-
when i stared at an immobile object, for example like a nail in the wall, it would seem to rapidly twitch or move like an insect. Also, I couldn't sleep at night because when I closed my eyes, I could only see bright lights and colors and hear a ringing sound in my ears.
I quit taking the drug because of these reasons and because it made me emotionally void.

Out of curiosity, did anyone else here experience hallucinations on this drug? Did they diminish after time? I think most people would probably discontinue using the drug after experiencing this kind of thing- it's very alarming and generally not fun.

i had retally weird side effects when i started wellbutrin, including some mild hallucinations like the kind that you mention, but they went away with time. i'd say all of the weird side effects were gone after 1 yr on wellbutrin (they gradually tapered away)
