swollen neck glands

Posted by mscrane on June 8, 2001, at 10:24:09

Ok...I may be freaking out for no reason here..and lets hope that I am!
Anyhoo..I stopped taking Paxil like 2 weeks ago...because of the loss-of-libido-thing...my doctor told me to just stop and start on Wellbutrin...not a good idea..!!!!!! The withdrawl was HORRIBLE..and I am still experiencing icky stuff in regards to that...I stopped the Wellbutrin and started with Celexa instead because it's closer to the Paxil and I thought the withdrawl wouldn't be as bad...and it has got a bit better...but the one thing that is staying is these swollen glands in my neck...it's totally freaking me out and I just want to know if this is normal...Wellbutrin side effect? Celexa side effect? Withdrawl side effect? Going completely out of my mind side effect????? Any help here would be comforting!!!

I frequently get sore and swollen lymph nodes. It usually takes about three weeks to resolve. Check it out with your doctor on your next appointment or two weeks if your still worried about it.

Is this a side-effect from switching around from Paxil to Wellbutrin and then to Celexa???? What is causing this???? Could it be allergies????
Sorry for sounding so psychotic, but it is really bothering me for some reason....and I hate calling my doctor for every little thing....
Thanks for your reply...it's good to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this!

For myself it probably could be aggravated by sinuses. The doctor figures it is the lymph nodes but in my humble opinion part of it is muscle tension in the neck and jaw.

When you're scared you're scared. Wait a couple weeks and if it isn't any better get it checked out. If it is really bothering you make an appointment now, and the doctor will probably reassure you. That's what they are there for!

Hi mscrane

I Had swollen glands in my throat years ago.
I was seriously depressed. I couldn't figure out
the reason why i had those glands. (thought of the worst illnesses i could imagine: cancer, aids and so on).
I finally called a doctor for a home visit.
She touched my glands and told me she didn't know a clue.
I was prescribed for generic blood tests, thyroid, toxoplasmosis, mononucleosis.
Nothing showed up.
Later on i got to know t that a friend of mine got swollen glands right after his father had died.
Psychoimmunolgy studies found out that there is a connection between depression and immune system.: they're kind of intertwined.
I don't know, your swollen glands might be caused by the emotional distress of both depression and withdrawal.......
I think you should go to your doctor and get prescribred for blood testing though.

Do you have hard or rubbery lumps that don't hurt?

Yes, they are kinda rubbery(???) as opposed to hard..
It doesn't really hurt, I just know it's THERE!
It seems to be only on my left side now, though..
but I'm still quite freaked out about it..
What does it mean if it's rubbery and doesn't hurt?
I should also mention there only appears to be one.
HELP!

Sorry if I scared you. If one of them's gone then there's no need to worry I should say. The worst thing it might have been is what my wife had. Hodgkin's Lymphoma which was quickly cured, as it is in almost all cases. That was 10 years ago so treatment is probably even better than that now. It's most unlikely though, especially as one has shrunk. Hodgkins' cells grow not shrink.
I should see your doc to put your mind at rest and remember the worst scenario isn't very bad

I just started zoloft yesterday (adding to Wellbutrin) and my glands started swelling last night and are still like that. It could be that I am highly stressed and thus my immune system is going down. But is it possible that there is a medication connection? It doesn't seem unlikely to me. I really don't think our bodies should be invaded by these chemicals. But then again, I can't find any other way out of this. Believe me I have tried. (exercise, diet, therapy) I continue those things but am giving this a shot. If anyone else has noticed this effect it would be interesting to hear.
