Hi. I've been on 40 mgs of Prozac for several months. I don't feel like it's working as well the last week. I started to go to 50 mgs; every other day I take 3 20 mg capsules. I see my pdoc late next month. I just quit my job which I hated, so I'm wondering about income. I have a 4 month very good relationship with my boyfriend, and I don't want to blow it. I don't feel happy like I did before. Should I go to 60 mgs. Please help!

I am in the process of leaving Prozac *80mg*/day to Celexa 40mg/day. I can tell you, going from Prozac 40mg/day to Prozac 60mg/day DID help, but then it become ineffective for me. We tried going up to 80mg, but it just caused more severe side effects and no more anti-depressant qualities.
I would recommend going to 50mg (that's usually the next step up from 40mg, if you've never been higher... I was on 50mg one time before, so we just went from 40 to 60, then to 80).

> JoyTaking more than 40 mg of Prozac per day didn't help me. I have been on Prozac for 12 years. Prozac worked very well for me at first and then it just took the urge away to cry at the drop of a hat away and gave me a more relaxed attitude. I am now trying effexor xr along with the Prozac.
