Chromium supplements make me fatigued

Posted by Dave R on July 7, 2001, at 12:58:06

Hi. this may not be the forum for this question, but what the hell. My father was type 2 diabetic, and I have strong mood reactions/carvings for carbs, especially sugar. I've taken chromium to "assist" my insulin to do its thing, but it makes me very tired in the afternoon (coma time). It also makes me lose weight quickly (which pleases me, but I would prefer not to be an irritated zombie). All the references I can find say chromium is supposed help with fatigue problems. ANyone find this effect?

Perhaps you can just have a cup of coffee in the afternoon.

Does this happen with different brands of Chromium? That might be the first thing to try, another brand.

Let us know,
Zo

You probably know that diabetics aren't supposed to take chromium. Perhaps that warning should be expanded to include persons with a genetic predisposition to diabetes? The fact that it made you lose weight fast worries me (but I'm not a dr or anything, just a somewhat-educated layperson). If you haven't been tested for diabetes lately, you may want to be.
