It has recently come to my attention that trazodone (Desyrel), has an affinity to D2 receptors almost equal to that of chlorpromazine (Thorazine or Largactil). I'm curious about the implications of this.Last year I took desyrel for about one month as a sleeping aid and found it caused more dry mouth and drowsiness than any drug I had ever taken. Does it have the potential to cause TD over a long period of time? Does it have any anti-psychotic properties? What sets this drug apart from other ADs. I'm just curious.
