I am taking zyprexa to augment prozac and it has worked great. I had tried seroquel and it works wonderful for sleep but did not help the depression. My question is can I take both drugs or is it increasing my chances of EPS? I don't see my doc for another week and I wonder if I am asking for trouble by taking seroquel for sleep in addition to zyprexa and prozac.

There is even talk among the psychopharmacological community about Zyprexa being used to fight EPS, so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Dona. I'm not sure about EPS, but you are definitely creating more of a risk for tardative dyskinesia (TD); I would absolutely wait to talk to my pdoc before combining them, and also do some of your own research on the internet. I would definitely not combine them unless for a psychosis. You might want to find something else to take for sleep that cannot cause TD, even if the risk is small. My pdoc has had two cases so far of TD, both reversed after four or five months, but it is not a easy thing to go through, and I personally would not take the risk. There are lots of other drugs to take for sleep.
