Celexa ?

Posted by glinda on August 3, 2001, at 12:32:15

Was prescribed 2 take celexa 3 weeks ago - just started today - thought I could overcome deepness on my own - am regularly a very strong person, as friends tell me that they depend on me to be the strong one - have recently been ill, with allergies from hell - recently promoted, but have to take past week without pay, not good - have been feeling very empty; was competetive runner, with meds from allergies and a torn hamstring, haven't been able to run - 2 best friends moved away, still in touch, but not here - husband started new business & never here - Celexa is supposed to lift my spirits, does it? Has anyone had any good effects from it? Any other bad effects? I thought my girlfriend was weak when she started Prozac; guess we all need help sometimes.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Have had some good response with minimal side effects. I would recommend highly you get back in the exercise mode some way, (swimming, bikes or whatever) it makes a HUGE difference for me.
Good Luck

Thanks so much. I have an appointment with a sports-spine specialist this Monday and hope to be back running again. Biking scares me a bit. Where I live is very hilly and the roads are narrow. I belong to the YMCA, but it seems like when I can swim, there are youth classes taking dominance of the pool. I live in a lake community, so was thinking of swimming after work, although running has become part of my personality for the past 10 years. I'm going to work very hard on physical therapy; believe it or not, I miss racing, although this year has been a downer. Will let you know how celexa works - am on 20mg, but am a "petite" lady - a twin.

Take Care

I have been taking Celexa since mid-June and it has made me feel a lot better - I was never really into psych drugs before, but it's really been like a revolution for me. I have had a few side effects - had some weird fears at first, some sweating, a temptation to nap, but they are all manageable.

Thanks for answering. I'm a scientist, but have always felt that I could get through things on my on. Night sweats, I'm used to. I'm very happy for you that Celexa is working.

Thanks for the support.

I started taking Celexa about a week ago. Only 10 mg to start the first week. On the 5th day I hit a real low point. I almost started crying for no reason at the library. I have been on 20 mg for two days now and feel better. I have less negative thoughts but still do not wish to see friends or go out.
