i am going to go on antidepressants for the first time. this was really something i was trying to avoid. i just wanted to know if you guys think my dysthymia should be treated with wellbutrin. i have been depressed all my life but it has gotten much more severe this last year. i have no hopes for the future. i am not suicidal but i don't want to live. it's not so much pain as boredom and a disbelief that i could ever have fun again. i also find it hard to focus on doing anything because i am always upset about something. it's very hard for me to work towards goals--i'm always so upset emotionally that i try to take care of that. i am also supercritical of people a lot of times (altho i do not know if this needs to go away). i get bored a lot. so what do you think? will wellbutrin help?

I would definitely try Wellbutrin. I love the way it makes me feel, unfortunately I suffer from anxiety and the Wellbutrin makes that worse in the form of chest pains, even though I am also on a benzo, so I am having a hard time with it. Soon I may try augmenting it with an SSRI to see if that helps with the chest pains. But in terms of my dysthymia, the Wellbutrin rocks.

Is a standard dose of Remeron (30-45 mgs) combined with a low dose of Wellbutrin (not more than 150 mgs/day) a safe combo? Wellbutrin to offset weight gain and offset daytime grogginess from Remeron.
Thoughts? For depression.

Yes. I took Remeron and Wellbutrin together for quite some time. First the Wellbutrin augmented the Remeron; then we gradually upped the WB and lowered the Rem so that the Remeron augmented the Wellbutrin. I'm off the Remeron now and still on WB with Serzone.
There are PB tips pages that I did on both Remeron and Wellbutrin. You will find more about different combos there including the Rem/WB combo.

Good luck.
