What is in the pipeline?

Posted by Erin59 on September 22, 2001, at 14:18:43

Hi to All,
Just curious if anyone knows about any current clinical trials or what meds are in the pipeline. My Pdoc says there will soon be a blood test that will determine which receptor is causing the imbalance, thus, eliminating all "the dart throwing" when prescribing meds. I am convinced that my problem is dopamine related and I always end up getting SSRIs as it seems like serotonin is routinely thought to be the "holy grail" by the medical community. Any thoughts or knowledge would be appreciated.
Peace,
Erin

He Erin.

The drug perhaps closest to getting approved is called duloxetine, and is being developed by Eli Lilly and Company, the makers of Prozac. Among the properties that this drug possesses is a potent reuptake inhibition of both serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE). It is in this way similar to Effexor.

I'm very interested in a drug being developed by NeuroSystems that inhibits the reuptake of the "three tenors" as SheliR's doctor likes to call them: dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. It's probably three or four years down the line unless the FDA speeds up the process.
