Supplements and drugs that compliment Zoloft

Posted by Divine on October 7, 2001, at 10:27:56

I starting taking 25mg of Zoloft about 2 months ago for anxiety (particularly panic attacks) and depression. I feel quite a bit better now, although I have had a noticible loss of interest in sex.. and I am quite a bit more tired at nighttime. I supplement my Zoloft with GNC Mega Men vitimens, 3 grams of Inositol and 120-240mg of Ginko Biloba a day. I actually wanted to take Yohimbe Bark to increase genital blood flow, but I've read that it can be dangerous to take with Zoloft, so I am nervous about doing so. I am quite into weight lifting and normally take a supplement called Xenadrine, but since starting my Zoloft I have ceased use of that as well because I've read that the ephedra is also bad to take with SSRi's. Anyone care to comment on anything I've mentioned above? Any suggestions for improving my routine?

I'm also quite shocked to read that people have mixed street drugs such as Marijuana and especially MDMA with SSRi's. I've read numerous times that the combination of the two drugs can cause Seratonin Syndrome which can lead to death.. Not a chance I'd like to take.

I am also taking 25mg. Zoloft. Has there been an improvement in depression since adding the Inisitol and ginkgo? If so what kind of improvements? I am very interested because I've been having kind of a hard time with Zoloft. (Actually, I have a hard time with all antidepressants!) Any info. would be appreciated! Thanx!

I definetely think the Ginko has helped my sex drive, that is bring it closer to what it should be. The Inositol is great, an hour or so after taking it I notice I feel talkative and generally more relaxed. Give the two a try, I think you'll like the results.

Yes - I had that problem with Zoloft 50mg.
Adding Serzone helped about 50% both sex and energy (300mg)
However, still had those 2 side effect more than I wanted to be, but great effect otherwise for SP (Klonopin also, the meat of the regimen actually)
Knowing what I know now I'd have tried adding Provigil to the Zoloft and Serzone.
I suspect that energy and sex drive would have been normalized.

Hmm...that's interesting. Serzone didn't work
for my depression and actually made me REALLY
irritable, but somehow, I don't know how, that
stuff REALLY made my sex life phenomenal! I've
often wondered about adding to an SSRI to see if
it would help with the sexual side effects...
