HI,
I have tried a lot standard anti-depressants, and so far none has worked. If anyone is in the same boat and
found and augmentation strategy that worked, please
let me know. I was thinking a tricyclic + lithium,
ssri + pindolol, or effexor + remeron (which my doc
just started me on).Thanks,
Dave A

Pindolol worked OK for me, I still take it. But by far the best augmentation to my cocktail has been Resperdal 'for me'. You never know what will work for you or what will be a big negative for you. I encourage you to keep searching there is a lot to try.

HI HENRY,
Did you add the pindolol to an SSRI?
Did the SSRI work before the pindolol?Dave

I took Prozac for years. Other people said it helped. I thought it had all the effect of vitamin C. Next added Ritalin and that worked like magic for 6 weeks. Went on and off that but effect was always short lived. Added Pindolol to the mix and I felt as good as I ever had, but still I suspected I didn't feel like most people seem to feel. Somewhere in there I started using Concerta which is just a sustained release version of Ritalin. The last thing I have added to my cocktail of Rrozac, Concerta and Pindolol is Risperdal. I am up to 2mgs daily. It allows me to feel good usually and to function as well as I think I ought to, most of the time. All this was not a smooth linear progression. I tried a lot of other drugs along the way. So many I can't remember them all. Fits and starts. It took ten years. But I'm feeling good these days and I pray to God that all this just keeps working. I have experienced going off these meds and it is not pretty. Before I got medication things were bleak. I took that little detour very abruptly when Nurontin adversely impacted my ability to achive a satisfactory erection. I backed off everything too quickly, bad idea for me.
Let me reiterate. All these meds effect each of us very differently it is a mistake to think that a medication which effects me one way will have the same effect on another person. But the journey and the result are something that I belive can be a common experience. Good luck.

>re: Hi! my drug cocktail is
Prozac 40mg, Perphenazine 4mg (an older risperdol)
and buspar30mg (used to throw alcohol into the mix but stopped
that now for 6 months...) anyway. These meds have
kept me really basicially happy, except for extreme fatigue
which I have complained about for 20 years plus (i am 43)
so just last week the pdoc also prescribed provigil to throw in with the mix
have more energy now, and feel great. This mix works for me
I think the key is the ssri, and the antipsychotic
Prozac alone did not work for me for long
but since the addition of the anti-pscychotic
it has worked well, and I have been on these now the first three meds
now for about 10 years
Good luck, Vicky
