hi. Today I will be stopping my zyprexa 10mg which I have been taking for my depression. I have felt better earlier when I was off medications. Like the AD's which I've tried I feel the zyprexa has some worsening effect although not to the extent as the AD's. The AD's have caused me to at some points feel suicidal. Anyway I wont be taking myz yprexa anymore which I have been on for 3.5 weeks. How long will it take for whatever effect the zyprexa is having to go away? a few days?

Adamie - Before stopping the Zyprexa™ (olanzapine) you should consult with your doctor. Some people need to be weaned from it. It can take about seven days to fully clear your body, but remember, your body's neurotransmitters and receptors have to readjust to not having the Zyprexa anymore. This can take a couple of weeks. - Cam

Adamie,
I was down to 2.5mg for only 1 week when my Dr. tolt me to stop after I complained of too much sleep. I got terrible terrible withdrawal syndromes. I felt like I was dying physically. Weight dropped, flesh around the eyes disappear so quick and sore eyes. Fatigue and sickness. I had chronic insomnia, at least since then. Sleep med did not help.
I did not know I had to ween off more slowly. I stopped all med at that time.I think you need to ween of slowly. The half life of Zyprex is 1wk to 2wk. But I suffered for more than a month and it did not seemed to stop since the insomnia has become chronic util now which is 2 months already.
I took Zyprexa only for 2month+. Before that I was able to eat well and I was able to sleep so well every night. The med made me sleep abnormally too much. Now I realize how normal and healthy I was before. It's too late. I think the Dr. misdiagnose me but I can't blaim him since there is no scientific diagnostic method. Some problem could be psychological, it was just a matter of thinking possitively and I could have been fine. As simple as that.
It's quite strainge that I do not feel real sick anymore when I do not sleep all night.
Take care
