EFFEXOR-LIFE SAVER

Posted by Pamela Lynn on November 13, 2001, at 3:15:48

Hi to everyone out there, first off! My name is Pamela Lynn...I am on Wellburtrin-1 100mg Tab. daily, Zyprexa 1/2 tab in AM, 1/2 tab in PM, and 1/2 tab mid day IF NEEDED, Xanax-when needed for panic attacks, and EFFEXOR at 3X daily at 75mg doses in capsules.

I truly feel that the steady increase, up to what I am at now, is really what has saved my life. The only side effects that I have felt from the Effexor is now at the 3rd dose...which is tightening in my jaw, and more sleeplessness-I am told by my psychiatrist that this should subside once my body gets used to the higher dose. I have to tell you, that "I" feel a "serene kinda jolt" right after taking the Effexor Capsules.....NEVER have I felt that way on any other med, and believe you me, I have been on many over the years.

I know that due to my severe depression and sometimes psychotic moods that I will more then likely be on depression meds for a long, long time....I view depression kinda like being a diabetic-they need insulin for the rest of their lives to survive...for this disease called depression I too, need my meds. to survive. Why would I go off the Effexor anyway??? Especially since I am doing so well (knock on wood!!LOL).

Please feel free to write to my email if you want to. I love to get them.

Good luck to all of you out there....P.L.

Thanks Kitty-Layne. Believe me though, it's been a LONG, LONG uphill battle for many years to get to this point, and I still have my moments of the blues. The Effexor has cleared the way for me though in my battle...kinda evened the road out, so-to-speak. I also have a great Psychiatrist and a fabulous therapist...without them, for me, no meds. would fully help all on their own.

P.L.

An effexor success story for a change!
Congratulations! I think effexor gets a bad
rap on this news group. As people have pointed
out those who do well on the 1st or 2nd med
probably aren't lurking on this newsgroup
(many of whom are effexor graduates I'm sure),
they are out doing other fun things.

If the jaw tighting is persistant I have a few
ideas to augment the med to alleviate this
(this problem plagued me). The zyprexa is one
med that should help, so probably it will
subside.

good luck,
john

Thanks John....I am on Zyprexa, still have the jaw tightening though....it is getting better however.

Effexor is the latest of the many, many different meds. that I have been on since I was 14..I am 30 now! Some had worked in the past for awhile, some not....I hope and pray to myself that the Effexor will continue to help me as it is doing right now....I feel a bit more "rooted" now and it's about time!! LOL
