Hi...I am on Wellbutrin 300mg and Neurontin 900mg. Alone, the wellbutrin does not work...I am still quite depressed, although it has a bit of a motivating effect, but no antidepressent quality. The neurontin doesn't do anything (makes me more depressed, even) when used alone. However, when I combine the two, it's the perfect combination -- within 2 hours of taking the neurontin I can feel the effects! Does anyone know why this may be? I mean, does anyone have a biochemical answer? A possible, specific, MOA?
Thanks much!-Chris

I don't know why it would work that way for you. Maybe don't try to figure it out...just bless your lucky stars that you've found something that works!! Congratulations....

How long have you been taking Wellbutrin? It can take several MONTHS to get the full AD effects from it. I would not give up hope on it unless you already have been using it for several months.
As far as Neurontin, it is often given as a so-called "mood stabilizer" to counteract some of the buzz WB can give you. Personally, I HATED it, and stopped taking it.
I would suggest you ask for a benzodiazepine class med to take with your WB. Your doc may poo-poo this request, but be persistent with your request.
