There aren't too many positive messages about Buspar on this board, but I've been on it for a little more than a month now, and WOW! My anxiety is so much more under control than I can remember it being in a long time. I haven't woken up at 4am having a panic attack in at least 3 weeks, and I feel like I'm able to cope with the things that are happening in my life on a day to day basis much more often. And my side effects are pretty much nonexistant. This is after a horrible experience with Paxil in which my anxiety seemed to double (I hadn't thought that would be possible!).
One thing, though, that I find a bit curious is that my sex drive has increased quite noticably, and sex with my husband is just incredible. I'm not complaining, of course! But I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar benefit from Buspar or any other med? Or am I just benefitting from being able to focus on things other than my anxiety?

I'm having good luck on BuSpar also. The only thing is that I have to take it 3 times a day and each time I feel a little tired for about a half hour after. I'm only on 5, 5 and 10. I couldn't handle 10, 10 and 10. I've been on it for 3 months.

Hi Audrey,
Yes, Buspar is one med that I have had success
with. I just added it to Effexor and feel less
tired. The positive things I noticed about it
were increased energy, decreased anxiety and like
you my sex drive went way up as well. Very strange. The reason I stopped taking it was because I didn't have the money to refill, but now
I would never do that again. I've learned so much about taking these type of medications. Be consistent with time of day and take them everyday.....try not to miss a dose and life should be worth living again. I cannot stress the
importance of consistency. I used to be the worlds worst drug taker and lost a lot of time because of it. I am so glad it is working for you. Be well and enjoy your newfound sex drive!
