Hello. One of concerns about using meds is other peoples perceptions of me. So often is the case I think with psychiatric drugs that the problem is not that they wont work or stop working but how they affect you if they do work. I admit people said I can be a hyper on my Sertraline but I think Ive gotten away with not being suspected of being on psychiatrics drugs with benzodiazepines. Too much and the foggy eyes, slurred speech not to mention erratic behaviour give it away. But whats your view when a therapeutic dose is used for a period of time. Im thinking about trying to get back into society and I know I wont be accepted if I behave like I do sometimes when Im on Sertraline. Post submitted in regards to current pdocs consideration of Xanax augmentation.

Paul,
Oh dear. I'm rather worried now. Have we met? I'm over on PSB all the time, ths is my first time on PB and I didn't know we could talk about these things here.
Anyways. We never know what people think unless we check it out first. But the trouble w/ being a Mental Patient is no ones going to come up and ask if that's what's behind your erratic moods and behaviors. But we can pick up on it, the vibe "mundanes" put out when we're around, and as you suggest, it's not pleasant, it can make you want to pass for sane, which may indeed exacerbate your mental illness.
So I understand your feelings, and hope w/all my heart that you can find a certain security out there.
Remember this: We who struggle w/ psychiatric disorders are the hardest working people in show biz (or out). Normal people have no idea of the struggles we deal w/ nor the degree of mental effort we put into meeting our cultural standards of productive citizenship.
Perhaps we can educate them?
People are good deep down, they only seem heartless when they don't know what the heck is going on.trouble

I'm on klonopin and I don't think people know I'm on it. They definitely can tell I have less anxiety. Although there are some days when I am very agitated. But hey, that's normal. Not this agitated, but still... When the klonopin is working and I feel good, the anxiety is WAY down and I can "fit into with society". Give it the Xanax a go. Just don't use too much or they'll be able to tell like you said.
This is the end of the thread.
