celexa cocktail

Posted by sar on March 6, 2002, at 20:31:09

celexa was very good for me from the get-go (about a month now) and a good combination with the klonopin that i'd already been taking. my depression lifted, i feel more relaxed...the problem is sleepiness that won't go away! i've never been a napper, but everyday i'd take about two 3-hour naps. my new pdoc added 150 mg wellbutrin to "wake me up" to my mixture, but now i just feel tired *and* suddenly nervous (i've read that Wellbutrin can cause anxiety).

any suggestions?

Would you feel comfortable trying to let go of
the Wellbutrin and dumping or lowering the klonopin?
Hopefully the celexa is doing the job of relieving your
anxiety issues.

I was taking klonopin and fell extremely tired
on Sezerzone and had to let the klonopin go (which
was good).

You didn't say what time of day you take Celexa, but my pdoc told me to take it during your evening mealtime (whenever that is for you). He said that then the peak 'sleepiness' period would kick in around bedtime but be over by in the morning. He said if I took it right before bed, it would probably make me more groggy in the morning.

Just a thought, if you haven't tried it.

I was going to say the same thing as Penny. Try talking it in the evening. I personally take 40mg by taking 20 am and 20 pm.

Also, be on the lookout for a new version of Celexa which should be on the market in June. It is called Lexapro. It causes less daytime tiredness than Celexa but has the same active ingredient as Celexa.
