DOes anyone know if i take 300mg of neur a day, what will it make me feel like? Sedated, euphoric, or like on a benzo???? ihave 5 days worth, but i take klonopin 1mg a day with paxil and remeron.

The current pooled response rate from open studies of Neurontin in bipolar disorder is approximately 69% at a mean dose of approximately 2,000 mg. But you may be able to get away with taking less.

300 mg/day is pretty low.Probably 200-300 mg 3 times a day would be in order for starters (although you may want to titrate up to that range just to make sure the medicine doesn't wipe you out).
The medicine really needs to be dosed about 3 times a day to avoid fluctuations because it shoots through your body really quickly.

I have been taking Neurontin at 600mg each night for a while now. My doc originally put me on it as a *trial* to see if it, along with Trazdone would help me sleep through the night. I have severe Degenerative Disk Disease, Spinal Arthritis and Facet Arthritis. I also have Sleep Apnea and wear a CPAP.
I am very cautious when starting any new meds. Since I was to see a PDoc for the first time last week. I was not sure what she would suggest for meds, so two weeks prior I weaned myself down off of ALL meds. <including the Neurontin and Trazdone.> My sleep went to hell. <Grrr>
The PDoc put me on Serzone, which can be taken with Neurontin, so I am bringing myself back onto the Neurontin along with slowly working up to a goal dosage of Serzone 100mg in am and 200mg in the pm.
I have not noticed any problems with the Neurontin at all. I was told that it has been used to help aleviate pain in patients at night. That is what my doc put me on it for to begin with. So far it has helped me sleep at night, and given me no side affects I have noticed.
