BuSpar and Trazadone?

Posted by TenelKa on March 19, 2002, at 20:35:05

I'm having severe insomnia problems, and my doctor prescribed Trazadone. I have *extreme* daytime drowsiness that interferes with daily living; well, of course I do, I'm taking 2 medications with that side effect! And I'm still not staying asleep/waking feeling rested! Is my doctor crazy, or is there no hope?

trazadone will make you a zombie for a little while, but that effect wears off. or at least it did for me. i thought that it really helped with a solid night's sleep. stick it out for alittle while, if you can.. i don't think your doctor is crazy.

Have you been on the Trazodone for a long time? The daytime drowsiness might get better over time. Otherwise, another good option to try is Ambien. It is very safe. It works well to put people to sleep but you might wake up after 4 hours.

Are you taking any of the Trazadone during the day? If you are taking Traz. for insomnia only, it is not necessary to take it during the day. I have been using Trazadone for insomnia for over ten years. I only take it before going to bed (100mg). It's very potenet stuff. I can't imagine how anyone could take it during the day and stay alert.
