Possible urinary difficulties with benzos?

Posted by andyboy on April 7, 2002, at 23:17:20

Have had urinary frequency for the past 4 months now. No other symptoms and evrything has been ruled out (UTI, STD, prostate, blood sugar). My urologist says an overactive bladder and not to worry. Taking ditropan xl along with my klonopin. Had read somewhere that klonopin might have a possible urinary frequency side effect. (News to me...) Anyone heard of this, and why would it start 8 months into the klono treatment. Seems doubtful but just wondering iabout some feedback.

Never heard of that side effect of Klonopin (but haven't looked exhaustively). The antidepressant Reboxetine and others (mainly NRIs) may cause urinary retention!

Now that you mention it, yes! Some years ago, on Xanax. Nobody had heard of it then, either. Got so I had to go off it, woke me up too early every single morning having to pee, when I didn't really if you know what I mean?

And giong off it--switching to another benzo, was the "cure,"

Good luck,
Zo

I have this problem and I attribute it to Effexor because it started soon after I was on a therapeutic dose of effexor.
